The Giant Void - Ordinary Men

Early morning before sunrise
Ahead of us an unknown task
Far from home, in a foreign land
Conquered by our might force

Assignment disclosed
Agruesome dead
To murder civilians, form a firing squad

A choice is given
But who would take a step away?
Reputation at stake

Women and children
Gotta march them to death
They are hardly human
Skin, bones and rags

All the bloodshed, not easy to withstand
Holding breath, the trigger is pulled again

One by one they drop down dead
Day by day schnapps will clear my head
No more feelings just follow commands
Numbed senses it became a routine grind

Shame has gone, acid taste of fear
Bloodlust, putrid smell of carnage
Human horror, eager for a hunt
Kill at will, the enemy shall be undone

War is hell, terror overgrown
It's only duty and the power above
Sacrifice, one truth shall reign
No matter how mean, no matter the way

Brutalized to murder on command
Dehumanized their life is not in my hands
I'm not the one to blame
I'm just an ordinary man

So you think you are a hero, would you proceed otherwise?
Would you help those poor people, would your risk your life?
Would you risk your life?

Would you desert all your brothers?
Would you betray your cause?
Would you pose as a coward?
Would you wave your share?

Just don't raise many questions
Stay true to your beliefs
It gets easier after the start
Sick human mind

All dirty deeds, they must be done
Release the power, embrace the beast
So you thought you would be a hero
You are just a follower, a puppet on a string

Brutalized to murder on command
Dehumanized their life is not in my hands
I'm not the one to blame
I'm just an ordinary man

Brutalized to murder on command
Dehumanized their life is not in my hands
I'm not the one to blame
I'm just an ordinary man

Genocide is at bay
And it's carried by ordinary men
Willing and eager
Ordinary men
